In 1999 Historic Takoma reprinted the 1984 book Takoma Park: Portrait of a Victorian Suburb. This wonderful history of Takoma Park, with stories, photos and a wealth of information was the product of a collaboration of people from throughout the Takoma community, past and present. Ellen R. Marsh and Mary Anne O’Boyle took on the Herculean task of authoring this invaluable resource.

Images of America: Takoma Park traces the history of Takoma Park, MD and DC from the arrival of B.F. Gilbert in 1883 to the current day. Co-authors Diana Kohn, Caroline Alderson and Susan Schreiber have gathered the best from Historic Takoma’s archives and a wealth of other sources to capture the people, places, and events that shaped this community.

Historic Map Posters

Historic Takoma has reprinted two important historical maps of the Town of Takoma Park. The 1906 map shows the extent of the Town just 16 years after incorporation, with many areas still unsubdivided and not yet within the corporate boundaries. The 1930 map reflects the growth of Takoma Park shows the growth of the Town in the early 20th century and captures subdivisions not records in state land records. Both maps are 24″ x 30″ and suitable for framing.
