The architectural design of homes along the stretch of Sligo Creek between Maple and Piney Branch is uniquely modern and adopts the styles, ideals and the evolving design trends of 20th and early 21st century residences. The tour does not include the interiors of the homes. Wear appropriate shoes for hard surfaces and dirt trails. Meet at the site of the Presidents Tree on Maple Avenue just east of Sligo Creek Parkway. Contact tour guide Marty Shore at martyps6@icloud.com with any questions.

Join Historic Takoma for a walking tour of the historic Dinky Line. We will trace the trolley route from the intersection of Carroll Avenue and Ethan Allen Avenue (Takoma Junction) down to the site of the Wildwood resort on Sligo Creek. Along the way, we’ll talk about how the short-lived line connected local and DC residents to the resort in the late 1890’s.
Meet at the Sycamore Avenue parking lot of the Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op. Please sign up in advance by writing to info@historictakoma.org with “Dinky” in the subject line. This will allow us to prepare for the walk and reach you if need be. Check our website (historictakoma.org) for information if the weather looks iffy. A donation of $5 is requested to support the work of Historic Takoma.
