History Lives Here

Thanks to everyone who joined the 2024 Takoma Park House and Garden Tour. On a beautiful Sunday afternoon nearly 300 of you enjoyed touring 10 houses and gardens on Poplar Avenue. We appreciate your support and hope you had a grand time. Special thanks to our many sponsors and donors. Your support makes possible our programs to preserve, protect, and share the history and culture of Takoma Park.
If you didn’t get a chance to make the tour, you can review the brochure in two ways. A “flip” version allows you to flip page-by-page and a “scroll through” version. Unlike the brochures available on the tour, these are in full color.
See you on the 2025 tour.

This annual tradition returns after several years lost to covid. Historic Takoma hosts the 2024 tour on Sunday, June 9th from 1-5 pm. Titled “Old and New Poplar,” the tour focuses on upper Poplar Avenue and its evolution over time, showcasing a variety of houses built from the late 19th century to the present. Included on the tour are several gardens featuring native plants and natural stormwater management. Tickets are $30 and are now available online and at the Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op, 201 Ethan Allen Avenue – or purchase them in the day of the tour at the Co-op starting at 1 PM.

Sadly the world does not seem to have left Covid behind to the degree needed before people feel comfortable opening their homes and interiors to the numbers who would show up.
We are still considering alternative ideas for some version of an outdoor event, probably in the fall. We will keep you posted.
