Reference Collection

The Reference Collection consists of published materials such as books, magazines, journals, academic papers, reports, studies, and maps, and subject files that provide context and explanation of the history and culture of Takoma Park, Maryland, and Takoma Park, DC. In general these are not unique items. This is a non-circulating reference library. To use the collection visit the Reading Room or make a research appointment.

The Reference Collection includes:

Maryland Reference Collection – these materials about Maryland are on long term loan from the Takoma Park Maryland Library.

Historic Takoma Reference Collection – the collection contains books and publications about Maryland, Montgomery and Prince George’s County, Takoma Park, Washington DC, the Civil War, design, architecture, planning and historic districts, natural history, and other topics relevant to Takoma Park.

Takoma Authors – books written by Takoma Park authors.

Subject Files – the subject files contain clippings, brochures, and other materials on a variety of topics related to Takoma Park.

Takoma Houses and Buildings – files on individual houses and buildings, real estate brochures, and other materials about local houses and buildings.

Takoma People – files about individuals associated with Takoma Park
