Takoma Park Fire Station

Historic Takoma, Inc. joined the Takoma community on October 29 in celebrating the grand re-opening of the Takoma Park Fire Station at Philadelphia and Carroll Avenues.

Montgomery County's oldest fire station has been protecting the Takoma community since 1894, and originally was constructed on its present site in 1928 using stone from Sligo Creek quarries.

In the making for over a decade, the new, larger station can accommodate the space needs of modern firefighting vehicles. Historic Takoma was a significant stakeholder throughout the process of designing the new station. The organization lobbied Montgomery County to retain the station at its current location and participated in design discussions to minimize the impact of the new station upon the surrounding neighborhood. The Takoma community can rest assured that the fire station will remain in the City for the foreseeable future, protecting our unique assets including the more than 900 homes in our Historic District.
