Archives of Historic Takoma Park --- In Maryland and the Takoma Neighborhood of the District of Columbia
The Archives of Takoma Park, in Maryland and the adjoining District of
Columbia neighborhood of Takoma, contains print and non-print resources
about this first railroad suburb of DC that abuts the Nation's Capitol.
Developed by Benjamin Gilbert in 1883, today Takoma is home to over
17,000 residents and is a community reflecting fine examples of typical
architectural styles of its 130 year history. The Archives is
attempting to capture information about those who once lived in the
community, their homes, and cultural and news-worthy events through
time.
Managed by Historic Takoma, Inc., the Archives is located at 7328
Carroll Avenue in the old Barcelona Nut factory store. For more
information, call (301) 270-2831 or use the web-form on the Historic
Takoma home page.
